Advertising
Internal Advertising:
Vacant positions will be advertised in the WDHB Intranet for a minimum of 5 working days UNLESS your service HR Representative has been consulted and agrees otherwise.
Every role in the WDHB should be advertised. This can be internally only, or both internally and externally.
*Note*
If a role is less than 0.2 FTE (Full Time Equivalent) or is a fixed term role of less than 3 months, then there is no requirement to advertise, provided this is discussed and agreed with your service HR representative.
External advertising:
All positions may be advertised externally, either in conjunction with, or following, internal advertisement, provided:
- Prior management approval has been obtained;
- All advertising is processed through the recruitment centre;
- Recruitment holds a centralised budget for Advertising;
- Approval to advertise externally must be sought from the recruitment manager via your recruitment consultant

Writing the advertisement:
- All advertising will be written within the bounds of relevant legislation and will identify the importance of the Treaty of Waitangi principles of partnership, participation, and protection.
- Advertisements must accurately describe what, if any, jobs are available. In addition, all information given about a job before or at an interview with prospective employees, must be accurate and not misleading.
- Where positions are specifically Maori Positions, advertising will be both Maori and English. Advice may be sought from the Recruitment Consultant who may consult relevant experts.
- Recruitment Consultants are responsible for writing draft advertisements, which comply with legislation and WDHB standards.They are then fowarded to the hiring manager for approval of the advertisement copy.
- Any amendments will be notified to the hiring manager prior to the advertisement being placed.
Your Recruitment Consultant will collaborate with you on the written advertisement and obtain your approval before posting it.
Placing the external advertising:
your Recruitment Consultant will:
- Place all External advertising;
- consult with you on the most appropriate medium (e.g. papers, journals, local, national, international, internet, etc.) and seek final approval from the Recruitment Manager who holds the budget for external advertising costs.
- upon request, provide the Recruitment Manager with the Recruitment Plan to support additional external advertising expenditure.
